Cymdeithas Defaid Penfrith Bryniau Cymru
Disgrifiad o’r brîd.
Disgwylir i’r anifail gael presenoldeb gan ddenu eich sylw drwy arddangos ei hun a cherdded yn dalog.
Pen.
Yn wrywaidd a rhydd o wlân. Disgwylir i’r mwyafrif o farciau fod o amgylch y llygaid ar trwyn ac o amgylch lleoliad y corn (os yn bresennol neu beidio.) Disgwylir peth lliw hefyd ar y glust gyda honno yn fyr ac yn gorwedd yn daclus. Dewis personnol yw’r % o farciau du i’w dderbyn. Yr un yw gofynion y ddafad heblaw am y ffaith fod angen pen benywaidd ac i fod yn gwbl rydd o gyrn.
Dannedd.
Rhoddir pwyslais mawr ar y dannedd. Disgwylir iddynt fod yn fyr a llydan gan daro top y geg heb fod yn fyr na’n dod trosodd.
Corff.
Disgwylir corff trwm gydag ysgwydd lydan a chwarter ôl cyhyrog a chryf.
Coesau.
Disgwylir i’r anifail sefyll yn gadarn ac yn uchel oddi ar y gar. Dylai fod ag asgwrn cryf gyda lled rhwng y coesau blaen ag ôl. Yn yr un modd dylai’r pen gliniau a’r traed fod yn ddu a cefn y coesau ôl hefyd gynnwys % o liw.
Gwlân.
Disgwyir côt o wlân tyn, trwchus a chryf gyda hwnnw yn unffurf dros y corff, nid yw’n annisgwyl serch hynny i’r gwryw fod efo a barf choler o wlân 'kemp' sy’n arwydd o’u caledwch.
I’w osgoi.
Heblaw am fethu cyrraedd y gofynion blaenorol rhai o’r elfennau eraill i’w hosgoi yw:-
v Blew neu sbotiau du yn y gwar a gweddill y corff yn enwedig top a thu allan y gynffon. Dewis mwy personnol yw’r % o dduwch i dderbyn y tu mewn i’r gynffon. Dylai’r ceseiliau fod yn brin o dduwch a sbotiau duon hefyd.
v Arlliw glas yn y gwlân a blew'r gwyneb.
v Britho'n ifanc neu'r marciau’n frown neu lwydaidd.

Breed Description.
It is expected that the animal draws your attention through their presence, being upstanding and parading well.
Head.
Should be full, musciline and free from wool. The majority of markings should be around the eyes, nose and around the sighting of horns (if present or not). Some colour is also expected in the ears with these being short and well set. The % of black markings is a personal preference. The same criteria would apply to females but the head should be feminine in appearance and totally devoid of horns.
Teeth
Much emphasis is placed on teeth. They should be broad and short and meet the palette. Being under shot or over shot is not acceptable.
Body.
The body should be thick set with wide shoulders and strong musciline hind quarters.
Legs.
The animal should stand well up on the pasterns. They should be of strong bone with width between both front and hind quarters. Both knees and feet should have black markings with the rear of both hind legs also having some colour.
Wool.
The coat should be strong and tight and uniform throughout. It is not unusual however for rams to have a mane of kempy wool, being a testament to their hardiness.
Traits to be avoided.
Apart from failing to meet the standards listed above other traits to be avoided would include :-
v Black hairs or spots in the neck and throghout the body especially at the top and outside of the tail. The % of colour on the inside of the tail is again a matter of personal preferance. The under carriage should also be devoid of black spots and colouring.
v Blue hue in the wool and facial hair.
v Early fading of colour or brown or grey markings as opposed to black.
v Overly strong horns.
